Thinking about the ways to use MATTEHOP 💭
Since the MATTEHOP Gel Roller Pen is designed for the crafters and creators, we decided find some ideas on how to use MATTEHOP!
We already know MATTEHOP would be perfect for scrapbooking and note-taking because of the variety of vibrant colours that stand out on not just white surfaces but also dark backgrounds.
Polaroid decorating
Firstly, we used MATTEHOP on some polaroid pictures during journaling!
We already know it would work on the polaroids because we made an article detailing how MATTEHOP works well on not just paper surfaces but also photo paper.
Pen on your calendar
Having a handy calendar on your desk is so convenient for marking out appointments and dates — you can even control how you want your notes to look like!
MATTEHOP works great on calendars, even those that have smooth, semi-glossy surfaces like the ones printed on coated art card 🗓️
We recommend waiting 10-15 seconds for the ink to dry before flipping the page, so you don't get accidental smudges or stains!
Once the MATTEHOP ink dries, it stays permanent and you'll have a brilliantly-decorated calendar🌈
Sticker-making
While writing on our calendar, we thought how nice would it be if we can decorate it with stickers... wait! We can make our own stickers!
We rummaged our stash of materials and found some leftover sticker paper (glossy surface) and let our creative juices flow~

Shrink plastic art & craft
Being crafty creatures, we decided to continue experimenting using MATTEHOP on other smooth surfaces.. and we thought, why not try it on shrink plastic? 🤩

On first use, the ink takes one or two strokes before flowing out smoothly. Once the ink flows, it becomes very easy to draw on plastic using the MATTEHOP Gel Roller Pen! As the ink is formulated with larger ink pigments, cleaning the tip of the MATTEHOP Gel Roller Pen can help the pen to stay unclogged and the ink to flow smoothly when in use 👍 |

As the ink dries, we can see how it differs in appearance! On the left, we can see that after drying, the ink is matte and colour is brighter and more vibrant. Going technical here: Before drying, the large particles are held together by a solvent, which allows some light to be reflected off the surface and into our eyes. This makes it appear glossy (some light reflected). After drying, the solvent is evaporated and only the large ink pigments are left on the paper. When light hits these large pigments, they are refracted into different directions, making it appear matte (less light reflected into our eyes). Now you know how it works!

Let's see the results of what we created using MATTEHOP on shrink plastic — turning it into a little trinket keychain!
💡Note: For shrink plastic art, the colours of the ink will usually be more saturated and darker after shrinking. This applies to whichever ink/medium you use! If you require precise colours, we recommend always doing a test shrink piece of all the colours you have to see how they appear after shrinking.
We love the vibrant colours of the MATTEHOP even after the plastic has been shrunk!
